MOUNT PULASKI -- Shirley Mae
Hayes, 73, died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013, at 5:11 p.m. at
Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Mt. Pulaski- Shirley Mae Hayes, 73, passed away at
5:11 P.M. on Thursday October 24, 2013 at Memorial
Medical Center in Springfield.
Shirley was born on October 30, 1939 in Lincoln, IL,
daughter of Roy and Clara Greenslate Lowe. She
married Richard R. Hayes on August 7, 1959 in
Chestnut, IL; he survives her in Mt. Pulaski.
She
was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and
the Mt. Pulaski First United Methodist Church. She
loved her flowers and gardening, feeding the birds,
and being outdoors. She was a wonderful mother and
grandmother.

A private graveside service will be held for family
and a memorial service for Shirley will be held at a later
date at the United Methodist Church in Mt. Pulaski.
Memorials may be given to Mt Pulaski United Methodist
Church. Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home has been
entrusted with arrangements.
Also surviving Shirley are two children: Barbara
(Lynn) Freer and Steven (Jessica) Hayes both of Mt.
Pulaski; four grandchildren: Alec Hayes, Skylar
Hayes, Hannah Freer, and Michael Freer all of Mt.
Pulaski; two brothers: Thomas (Carol) Lowe of
Chestnut, IL and Ira (Pat) Lowe of Palatine, IL. She
was preceded in death by parents, two brothers
Robert and William, and half sister Mary Powell.
