Since the beginning of the
annual Harvest of Talents event 30 years ago, Baseball Soup has been
a home run hit at the Harvest of Talents. The soup is
carefully prepared according to a family recipe and has been
prepared by that family every year.

A 30-year tradition since the beginnings of
the Harvest of Talents, large vats of vegetable beef soup are cooked
over a sweet wood fire just outside the back doors to the church Fellowship
Center. The Baseball Soup is a home run that has been
tweaked over the years. |

The recipe is that of George Henrichsmeyer's
mother and is now prepared and served for the Harvest by the fourth
generation in the Henrichsmeyer family.
Beginning at 7 a.m., the cooks fired up and began tending the large
kettles, stirring more often as the soup's temperature rose.

While the soup was cooking in the early
morning hours of the day, inside there were homemade cinnamon and
caramel rolls with plenty to go around for everyone.

And there was plenty of shopping to do!
Guests had a wide variety of items to choose from this year and a
variety of methods to purchase them. |

There was an abundant supply of ''cash and
carry" items available, along with items that had been put up for a
silent auction and also items for a public auction, called by local
auctioneer Mike Maske. |
