 Thursday, Sept. 5The festival kicks off with a Thursday
night talent show to benefit the Logan County Food Pantry. The show
will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Christian Church Family Life Center
on Lafayette Street.
Zeiler Amusements will have their carnival set up, and rides will
be open at 4 p.m.
Friday, Sept. 6
On Friday, activities will begin at noon with a craft show at the
Mount Pulaski Courthouse. The show will run until 8 p.m. Visitors
may also take guided tours of the courthouse during that time.
At 5 p.m. the American Legion will host a rib-eye sandwich dinner
at the Cross Brothers Food Tent, and the Jaycees will open their
beer tent on the southeast corner of the square.
The youth group from Zion Lutheran Church will host a dunk tank
on Washington Street from 5 to 9 p.m.
The official opening ceremony for the festival will be at 5:30
p.m. on the Farmers Bank Main Stage, on Washington Street. On that
same stage at 6 p.m. will be the Cutest Lil Famer, Little Miss Mount
Pulaski and Junior Miss Mount Pulaski contests.
Egg roulette will follow at 7 p.m., and the annual game show will
begin at 7:30.
At 8 p.m. there will be a lantern parade. Those who wish to
participate should meet in front of the courthouse.
Live music will begin at 9 p.m. on the main stage, and the band
X-Crush will play at the beer tent.
Zeiler Amusements will open at 4 p.m. and remain open throughout
the evening.
Saturday, Sept. 7
Saturday will begin with a pancake and sausage breakfast,
sponsored by Mount Pulaski Christian Church, at the food tent. The
event will run from 7:30 to 10 a.m.
Mount Pulaski will also host a 5K run and walk, with registration
at Mount Pulaski High School beginning at 8 a.m. There will be a
Kids Dash at 8:30. The 5K runners will start at 8:35, walkers will
start at 8:40, and families will start at 8:45. All of the 5K events
will start at the intersection of Washington and Jefferson streets.

 As Saturday proceeds, Zeiler Amusements will open their carnival
at 9 a.m. and the craft show will open at the Mount Pulaski
Courthouse.
Also at 9 a.m., the Washington Street Merchants Bake-off will
take place along that street.
The Zion dunk tank will open at 10 a.m. At that same time will be
the Vinegar Hill Car and Bike Show and the kiddie tractor pull,
sponsored by the Jaycees, with both events on Washington Street.
The chili cook-off will be at 11 a.m. on Washington Street.
At 11:30, parade entry registration will begin at the Mount
Pulaski High School.
The theme for this year's parade will be "Big Top on the
Hilltop." The grand marshals will be the members of the 2012-2013
third-grade class. They raised funds last year, $1 at a time, for the
Mount Pulaski Courthouse Foundation.
The parade route will begin on Spring Street, turn onto Wayne,
then follow Washington through the downtown area, turn onto Harry
Street, then back to Spring. The parade will begin at 1 p.m., and
parade awards will be announced at 1:50 on the Washington Street
Stage.
Beginning at 2 p.m. the Farmers Bank Main Stage will host a
variety of entertainers. First there will be a magician. At 3 p.m.
the Mount Pulaski Community Band will perform. The eating contest
will begin at 5:30, and at 6 there will be a hypnotist. The game
show will follow at 7 p.m., and at 9 p.m. there will be live music
on the stage.
Haircut Actual will be the featured band at the Jaycees Beer
Tent, beginning at 8 p.m.
There are also two very special events being planned for
Saturday.
At 3 p.m. will be the dedication of Gasaway Field and
Butkovich Drive in Veterans Park.
At 4:30, Roger Capps will be at the Mount Pulaski Museum. He is
a great-great-grandson of Jabez Capps, a founder of the community.
Roger lives in Portland, Ore., but will be returning to Mount
Pulaski for the festival this year. He is expected to speak on "Jabez
Capps, Coming to America."
