SHERMAN -- Glenn Albert Bottrell, 84, of
Sherman, formerly of Lanesville and Elkhart, died Wednesday, Sept.
11, 2013, at 4:45 a.m. at St. John's Hospice.

Glenn Albert Bottrell, 84, of Sherman, formerly of
Lanesville and Elkhart, died at 4:45 am, Wednesday,
September 11, 2013 at St. John's Hospice.
Mr. Bottrell was born January 3, 1929, the son of
Howard and Lucille Rice Bottrell, who preceded him
in death. He married Mary "Terry" Freymuth on
January 17, 1953.
Mr. Bottrell was a graduate of Illiopolis High
School and was a Korean War Veteran. He farmed his
entire life in the Lanesville and Elkhart areas. He
was a 4-H leader in the Lanesville area and received
the Sangamon County Outstanding Young Farmer award
in 1957. He served on the Logan County Farm Bureau
Board for nine years. Glenn initiated the first
tractor pull in Logan County and served as
Superintendent of the Logan County Fair Tractor Pull
for many years. He also brought the first four wheel
drive tractor to Central Illinois in 1969. Glenn was
a DeKalb seed corn dealer, a member of Elkhart
American Legion post #616, an honorary life member
of Lincoln Knights of Columbus #1250, past member of
Lincoln Elks, the Elkhart Homecoming Board, usher of
St. Patrick's parish in Elkhart and a licensed
realtor in the past.
Surviving are his wife of sixty years, Terry; one
son, Paul (wife: Lori) of Lincoln, three daughters,
Janet (husband: Jerry) Klockenga of Sherman, Kathy
(husband: Rick) Kaesebier of Elkhart and Patti Davis
of Mt. Pulaski; one sister, Lois Bottrell Bennett
(husband Allan, deceased) of Springfield; ten
grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and 1 great
great grandchild.

Visitation: 4-7 p.m., Friday, September 13,
2013 at Staab Funeral Home with a prayer service at
4 p.m.
Lie-in-State: 10-11 a.m., Saturday, September
14, 2013 at St. Patrick's Church in Elkhart.
Funeral Service: 11 a.m., Saturday, September
14, 2013 at St. Patrick's Church in Elkhart, with
Reverend Glen Fontana and Reverend John Beveridge
concelebrating.
Burial will follow at Elkhart Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be
made to the Renovation Fund of St. Patrick's Parish
in Elkhart, Illinois.
