LCU volleyball wins at tri-match

GARY, Ind. -- The Lincoln
Christian University volleyball team traveled to Gary, Ind. on
Saturday afternoon for a tri-match hosted by Indiana
University-Northwest. It was a great day for LCU (10-2) as they ran
away with the tri-match, beating Indiana University 3-0 and Mount
Mary College 3-0.

In the match against IU-NW (1-17), LCU won the three sets with scores
of 25-18, 25-16 and 25-11. Playing without all-American outside
hitter Alicia Carson (Gobles, Mich./Bloomingdale High), LCU was able
to plow ahead as other players stepped up in Carson's absence.
Senior Emily Sheley (Lincoln/Lincoln Community High) led the team
with eight kills, and junior libero Emma Donnelly (Clinton/Clinton
High) led the team with 19 digs. In the match against Mount Mary,
LCU dominated even more, as they won their three sets with scores of
25-13, 25-10 and 25-5. Freshman Erin Taylor (Noble/West Richland
High) led the way for LCU with eight kills. Senior setter Hannah
Taylor (Mishawaka, Ind./Jimtown High) led the way in assists with 31
for the match.

LCU will return to action next weekend as they
travel to Illinois Wesleyan University to participate in the
Barker Classic.
