[September
19, 2013]On Saturday, Anytime Fitness of
Lincoln will host the second annual Woofstock fundraiser, a hound
and human health fair to benefit the Humane Society of Logan County.
The event will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Kickapoo Creek Park.
Woofstock is co-sponsored by Jake's Home Furnishings of Lincoln.
The fundraiser will feature a raffle, prizes, informational booths,
vendors, contests, activities for kids and dogs alike, pulled pork
sandwiches from Peggy's Place featuring Fat Boys BBQ, and many other
ways to have fun while raising money. All proceeds will be donated
to the Humane Society of Logan County.
Woofstock is a fun-filled, family-friendly event where the pet
and pet lover can spend a day together and raise money for the local
Humane Society. Pet lovers can come with their leashed pet to peruse
the various vendors, including wine tasting with Hometown Wine &
Spirits, receive a complimentary photograph of their family with pet
by 74K Photography, receive a nail trim for their dog from Big Paws
K9, and much more.
The mission statement of the
Humane Society of Logan County is to
prevent the cruelty, abuse and neglect of animals, promote the
proper placement of animals through adoption, work toward the
solution of pet overpopulation, educate the public about the humane
treatment of animals, and aid in the return of lost animals to their
owners.
Anytime Fitness Lincoln, a brand-new, state-of-the-art 24/7
facility, is the host for Woofstock. Owner-manager Josh Slightom
expressed his excitement about hosting the event for the second year
in a row.
"We are so amazed at the reception from the community towards
Woofstock," he said. "This year, people contacted us asking how they
could be involved. This really proves that philanthropy is alive in
Lincoln and the Logan County community. We are honored to be able to
help the Humane Society of Logan County and feel that it is not only
our part to keep the humans healthy in Logan County, but also to
work towards the betterment of its animals. Thank you to all
supporters and sponsors. Without them none of this would be
possible"
Besides being a unique opportunity for animal and fitness lovers,
Woofstock has attracted the participation of other generous local
business sponsors: Jake's Home Furnishings, Wal-Mart, Sal Pollice of
Edward Jones, Seth Goodman, Dr. Lara Borgerson, Integrity Data,
Lincoln Printers, Blades Hair and Nail Salon, Bennett Funeral Home,
Big Paws K9, Puritan Water, Heath Source Chiropractic, Punky
Creations Photography, and more.
Bring your walking shoes and your furry friend to Kickapoo Creek
Park on Saturday and join others for smiles, wagging tails and the
good feeling of supporting a great local organization -- the Humane
Society of Logan County.
