Together for Lincoln is a group activity that
brings together families, friends, young and older, all for one
common purpose: to make life a little better for someone else.
This year the group, which totaled an estimated
500 volunteers, worked on 67 projects. Some of the projects
took more than just a day, some took much less.
Along the way, not only did this group touch
the lives of those whom they helped, they also touched each other's
lives with their giving spirit and kind attitudes. Needless to say, there were adults who set a good example for
youngsters, but there were also youngsters who set a good example
for everyone and shared a lesson that you are never too young or too
small or too insignificant to make a difference in the lives of
others.
As those who attend Jefferson Street Christian Church
already know, their preaching minister, Dustin Fulton, will be leaving the area soon, so
this will be his last year with Together for Lincoln. Fulton
has served TFL since day one and has seen all the great things that
have come from this group.
In a final note he wrote:
"I got a chance
today to run around and visit a few projects and talk with some of
the home owners who were being blessed with new windows and ramps.
It was great to see the smiles on their faces and the tears in their
eyes, as well as the joy on the faces of all of the volunteers. I
have always believed that God provides for those who are in need.
Through Together for Lincoln, I have learned that God wants to use
us to be a part of that provision. Of all the things I have learned
from our 7 years in Lincoln, the principles behind Together for
Lincoln will be the most valuable that I take with me to our next
ministry."
