Heartland to host its first-ever TEDx event

[April 03, 2014]  NORMAL — Be one of a select group of attendees to hear about creative disruption from speakers in the fields of academics, world politics, sociocultural response, gaming and more at Heartland Community College's first-ever TEDx event. Only 100 tickets are available for the TEDx event at Heartland, scheduled for April 12, 2-7 p.m.

TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to "ideas worth spreading." The event at Heartland is largely a student-organized session and the culmination of a year's preparation.

Featured speakers are Richard Seehuus on "How to be a Disruptive Student"; Doan Winkel on "College Can Prepare You for the Real World, but it Doesn't"; Kelly Keogh on "The Keys to International Relationships Post 9/11"; and Ankur Singh on "The Standardized Testing Epidemic."

Through the presentations, attendees will learn how to break existing patterns to compose new and more effective ways to create change and make progress.
