[April 04, 2014]  Charron's Auto Repair will collect automotive batteries and waste oil on April 26 at 929 S. Kickapoo in Lincoln. The drive will take place from 9 a.m. to noon and offers the community an easy, environmentally friendly way to dispose of waste oil and used automotive batteries.

"This waste oil collection event is designed to meet a growing problem: how to properly dispose of waste oil collected by do-it-yourselfers and properly disposing of used automotive batteries," says Rick Charron.

Non-contaminated waste oil should be brought to the collection site in sealed, closed containers of any size. The waste oil will be tested on-site. Batteries from cars, trucks, boats, RVs and motorcycles will be accepted.

People bringing in batteries and waste oil will receive a free gallon of windshield washer fluid with the drop-off and will be entered in a grand prize drawing.

Waste oil will be converted to a usable form by a waste oil recycler, whose mission is to recover the waste oil generated in this country every year.

An estimated 6.5 million gallons of waste oil is generated from Illinois automobiles and light trucks each year. This waste oil and used automotive batteries could end up in landfills or cause environmental damage that could last for generations. Recycling avoids contaminating natural resources of land and water.
