[April 08, 2014]  SAUNEMIN — Following years in which the Legends baseball program grew from one team to five teams to nine teams, the Legends program has announced that they will field "Elite" teams at the 15u, 16u and 17u levels that will play national schedules in 2015.

The outreach and "footprint" of the program has grown significantly in two years. Legends players will number around 125 in 2014, representing over 40 junior highs, high schools and colleges throughout the state. With the addition of the Legends Elite teams, program administrators believe 2015 will have nearly 175 players in the program in Illinois, making the Legends arguably the largest travel organization in central Illinois for 14u-18u players.

Elite team roster spots will be a difficult position to obtain and will be offered based on recommendations of high school coaches throughout the state. Players who have the skills to participate at the NCAA Division I level, or professionally, will play a schedule of seven national tournaments that will tentatively take place at the following locations:

15u:

  • Western Michigan University

  • University of Louisville

  • Oklahoma State University

  • Butler University

  • TCU

  • Eastern Kentucky University

  • University of Michigan

16u:

  • Western Michigan University

  • University of Louisville

  • Oklahoma State University

  • University of Louisville

  • Butler University

  • Ohio State University

  • Northwood (Texas) University
