Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo participated in offseason team
activities with the team as he celebrated his 34th birthday and
continues to recover from season-ending back surgery in December.
Romo missed the Week 17 finale after injuring his back a week
earlier at Washington and required surgery to alleviate a disk
issue. He lifted weights and was cleared to run.
___ Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton
said he is expecting a
long-term contract extension because he is the face of the
franchise.
Dalton has one year left on his rookie contract that pays him nearly
$1.7 million this year. The contract, as a whole, is worth $5.2
million.
___ Baltimore Ravens linebacker Rolando McClain
is retiring for a second
time. McClain was due to report to the Baltimore Ravens for the
first day of the team's offseason workout program, but decided not
to return.
In a text message to ESPN.com, McClain wrote: "I gotta follow my
heart. It ain't football. If football made me complete I would play.
But whenever I think of it my heart pulls me away from whatever
reason. ... This means I'm done."
___ Former NFL wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson was arrested for
misdemeanor domestic battery, according to the Los Angeles County
Sheriff's Department.
Sheriff's deputies responded to a call in Calabasas at 12:48 a.m.
Monday, according to a statement. After determining Johnson and his
ex-girlfriend were involved in a domestic dispute, Johnson was
arrested.
___ The Indianapolis Colts placed center Phil Costa on their
reserve/retired list. The 26-year-old Costa had just signed a
two-year deal with the Colts in March, so his retirement came as a
surprise. Previously, Costa played four years with the Cowboys where he
started 20 of 26 games over the past four seasons. However, he
played only 120 snaps last season due to a back injury that
eventually landed him on injured reserve. ___

The Chicago Bears signed wide receiver Josh Morgan to a one-year
contract.
The 6-foot-1, 220-pound Morgan has appeared in 79 games with 54
starts in six seasons with the San Francisco 49ers (2008-11) and
Washington Redskins (2012-13), hauling in 199 receptions for 2,488
yards (12.5 ypc) and 11 touchdowns.
___ The Kansas City Chiefs re-signed wide receiver
Kyle Williams to a
one-year contract.
Williams was claimed off of waivers from the San Francisco 49ers in
November and played in one game, with no catches, for the Chiefs
before tearing the ACL in his left knee. He had 12 receptions for
113 yards before being cut by the 49ers.
