As manufacturers increase production, expand operations and replace
an aging workforce, they are faced with the challenge of finding
workers with the right skills. There is currently a mismatch between
the skills job seekers have and the skills required for today's
manufacturing. The "Accelerated Training for Illinois
Manufacturing" program is designed to address this skills gap. ATIM
provides short-term training for jobs currently available with area
manufacturers, including certified production technicians, welding
technicians, CNC operators and technicians, and industrial
maintenance.
The training provided by the ATIM program also prepares
individuals to earn industry credentials in several areas, including
a safety certificate from the Manufacturing, Skill Standards Council
and certification from the American Welding Society or National
Institute for Metalworking Skills. ATIM training leads to work-ready
individuals using newly acquired skills at paid internships.
