The sides were scheduled for a salary arbitration hearing in
Toronto later Thursday.
The 25-year-old Spaling was acquired by the Penguins from the
Nashville Predators on June 28 along with forward Patric
Hornqvist in exchange for forward James Neal.
Spaling had career bests of 13 goals and 32 points in 71 games
with the Predators last season.
---The Ottawa Senators and goaltender Robin Lehner agreed to
terms on a three-year contract with an average annual value of
$2.225 million, the team announced Thursday.
Lehner, 23, went 12-15-6 with a 3.06 goals-against average and
.913 save percentage in 36 games (30 starts) last season. He
will be paid $1.5 million this season, $2.025 million next
season and $3.15 million in 2016-17.
A second-round pick by Ottawa (No. 46) in the 2009 draft, Lehner
is 21-24-10 with a 2.82 goals-against average, .918 save
percentage and two shutouts in 61 games.
---The Philadelphia Flyers will induct Eric Lindros, John
LeClair and Eric Desjardins into the Flyers Hall of Fame during
the 2014-15 season, team president Paul Holmgren announced
Thursday.
Lindros and LeClair will be inducted Nov. 20 before a game
against the Minnesota Wild and Desjardins will join the group
with a ceremony before a Feb. 19 game against the Buffalo
Sabres.
