[August 01, 2014]  Phillies 10, Nationals 4: Grady Sizemore drove in three runs and Ben Revere racked up four hits as visiting Philadelphia overcame the loss of Cliff Lee to defeat Washington.

Lee exited after retiring eight of the first nine hitters he faced due to a recurrence of a left elbow strain that kept him out for two months earlier in the season. The Philadelphia bullpen took over from there, with six relievers - including Antonio Bastardo (5-4), who threw two pitches to earn the win - combining to record the final 19 outs.

Jimmy Rollins added three hits for the Phillies, while Chase Utley and Marlon Byrd drove in two runs apiece. Denard Span had two hits and two RBIs to pace the Nationals.

The Phillies opened the scoring with five runs in the fourth inning against Gio Gonzalez (6-7), who did not survive the frame and suffered his third straight loss. Sizemore's two-run double and Revere's run-scoring single were the big hits in the frame.

Span's two-run single brought Washington within 5-3 in the fifth, but Rollins delivered an RBI single in the sixth and scored on Utley's sacrifice fly. Byrd contributed a two-run single in the eighth to bump the Phillies' lead to 9-4, and Sizemore later added an RBI hit to cap the scoring.
