 The deal, which runs through the 2021-22 season, is reportedly
worth $72 million.
The agreement was announced one day after the two sides met in an
arbitration hearing.
"We are very pleased to have reached a long-term agreement with P.K.
Subban. This agreement helps consolidate the future of our team,"
general manager Marc Bergevin said in a statement. "A key element of
our group of young veterans, P.K. plays with a high level of
intensity every time he steps onto the ice. Despite his young age,
he carries a great deal of experience and brings contagious energy
to the team. Defensemen of his level are a rare commodity in the
NHL."
Subban, 25, won the James Norris Memorial Trophy as the NHL's top
defenseman in 2013. He followed that with 10 goals and 43 assists in
82 games last season. He tied for fifth in the league among
defensemen with 53 points. He also led the team in scoring during
the playoffs with 14 points in 17 games as Montreal advanced to the
Eastern Conference finals.
He also helped Canada win a gold medal at the 2014 Sochi Olympics.

The Tampa Bay Lightning signed goaltender Ben Bishop to a two-year
contract extension.
Bishop, 6 feet 7 and 214 pounds, went 37-14-7 with a 2.23
goals-against average and a .924 save percentage in 63 games last
season and was a finalist for the Vezina Trophy as the NHL's top
goalie.

The Anaheim Ducks signed left wing Patrick Maroon to a three-year contract
extension through the 2017-18 season and left wing Nick Ritchie to a
three-year entry-level contract.
Maroon, 26, had 11 goals and 18 assists with a plus-11 rating and a
team-leading 101 penalty minutes in 62 games last season. He set career
highs in each category.
Ritchie, 18, has 73 goals and 75 assists with 246 penalty minutes in 165
games with the Peterborough Petes of the Ontario Hockey League. The
Ducks selected him with the No. 10 overall draft pick this year.
