In her eleven years as the Executive Director of the Abraham Lincoln
Healthcare Foundation in Lincoln, Ahrends assisted donors with
financial planning that incorporated charitable giving. Previously,
Ahrends spent six years as a sales representative for Dow
AgroSciences, providing plant protection solutions for ag producers
throughout Central Illinois.
She holds a BS in Agricultural Journalism from University of
Missouri-Columbia. Marty is currently enrolled in the Executive MBA
program at the University of Missouri and will graduate in May 2015.
She has also completed Cannon Financial Institute’s course in
trusts, estate planning, taxation and investments.
She is an 18-year member and past president of the Lincoln Rotary Club, a
Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow, and a 2002 graduate of the Illinois
Agriculture Leadership Program.

Her volunteer service and leadership has also extended to Lincoln
Art & Balloon Festival’s Fine Art Fair, Logan County 4-H, Lincoln &
Logan County Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development Partnership,
and University High School in Normal. Marty and her family make
their home in Logan County and are actively involved with Zion
Lutheran Church and Zion Lutheran School in Lincoln. Heartland
