Free Diabetes Support Group Offered at ALMH

[August 11, 2014]  LINCOLN - August 5, 2014 - According to the Healthy Communities Institute, diabetes was the seventh leading cause of death in the United States in 2007. In 2010, an estimated 25.8 million people or 8.3 percent of the population had diabetes. In Logan County, 9.9 percent of residents have been diagnosed with diabetes.

Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital announced today that it will continue to provide a free support group for people with diabetes mellitus. The support group will meet on the third Friday of each month at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital. The one-hour meetings begin at 11 a.m. in the Wombacher Room at ALMH. The meetings are free and no registration is required. Jennifer DiPasquale, a registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator, leads the group.

“The diabetes support group is a great opportunity to get practical and timely information to learn how to manage your diabetes,” DiPasquale said. Family members, friends and caregivers are also welcome to attend the meetings.

September 19: Blood Sugar Pattern Management
November 17: Thanksgiving – Tame the Feast
December 21: Holiday Strategies
January 19: New Year – Time to Review Your Care Plan.
