[August 14, 2014]  Aug 12 (The Sports Xchange) - After four months of legal challenges and threats from Donald Sterling, the Los Angeles Clippers have finally changed hands.

The sale of the team to former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer for $2 billion was legally closed Tuesday. Sterling is officially out as the owner after his racially insensitive remarks created a public outcry and forced the NBA to take action to ultimately remove him from a team he had purchased in 1981.

The Indiana Pacers, looking to fill a void left by forward Paul George's serious leg injury, are in the mix for free-agent Shawn Marion.

Pacers president Larry Bird confirmed that Marion, a 15-year NBA veteran, visited Indianapolis on Monday. Indiana and the Cleveland Cavaliers appear to be the leading contenders for the former All-Star's services.

The NBA suspended Phoenix Suns forward P.J. Tucker for three games without pay for super extreme driving under the influence in Arizona, the team announced.

The suspension will commence with the first game of the 2014-15 regular season.

The Miami Heat confirmed Tuesday that free agent guard Reggie Williams signed a contract with the team.

No financial details were released by the Heat, but the Miami Herald reported it was a one-year deal for the veteran minimum salary.

The NBA schedule will not be officially announced until Wednesday, but it appears that LeBron James will go back to Miami on Christmas Day with the Cleveland Cavaliers to face the Heat.

ESPN reported Tuesday that James will make his first visit to South Beach to face the team that he led to two NBA titles on the holiday. The entire league schedule is to be revealed during an NBA TV special on Wednesday. (Editing by Frank Pingue)
