Nationals 6, Pirates 5 (11 innings)
Pinch-hitter Scott Hairston had an RBI sacrifice fly in the last of
the 11th against reliever Brandon Cumpton as the Washington
Nationals beat the Pittsburgh Pirates to sweep the three-game
series.
The hit scored right fielder Jayson Werth, who led off the 11th with
a double off the wall in left and went to third on a ground-out.
It was the second walk-off win in as many days for the first-placed
Nationals (69-53) who won their sixth in a row while the Pirates
(64-60) lost for the fifth straight game.
The winning pitcher was Ross Detwiler (2-2), who threw a scoreless
10th and 11th innings.

Brewers 7, Dodgers 2
Catcher Jonathan Lucroy homered and drove in five runs, leading the
Milwaukee Brewers to a sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers with a
victory.
Carlos Gomez hit his 20th home run as the Brewers (70-55) handed the
Dodgers their first three-game sweep of the season.
The Brewers also unseated the Dodgers (70-56) for the National
League's best record.

Royals 12, Twins 6
A seven-run second inning powered the Kansas City Royals to a win
over the Minnesota Twins in a rain-delayed affair.
After a 30-minute delay to start the game, much of the contest was
played in a light rain. The Royals clobbered Twins starter Tommy
Milone, who was chased in the second inning, and increased their
American League Central lead to 1 ½ games.

Rangers 3, Angels 2
Adam Rosales drove in the winning run in the ninth inning with a
walk-off RBI single that scored third baseman Adrian Beltre in the
Texas Rangers' comeback victory over the Los Angeles Angels.
Earlier in the ninth inning, first baseman Mike Carp had singled in
the tying run for Texas (48-76), which halted a four-game losing
streak.
Right-hander Huston Street lost the 2-1 lead in the ninth to suffer
the defeat for Los Angeles (72-50), giving up his first run in 13
appearances since being acquired in a trade last month.

Giants 5, Phillies 2
Pitcher Tim Lincecum was backed by four innings of overpowering
shutout relief pitching, and the San Francisco Giants completed a
victory over the Philadelphia Phillies.
After the Phillies put 11 runners on base against Lincecum (10-8) in
the first five innings, left-hander Javier Lopez and righties Jean
Machi, Sergio Romo and Santiago Casilla combined to strike out nine
while permitting only two singles and no walks over the final four
innings.
San Francisco improved to 65-58.

Cardinals 7, Padres 6
Jumping out to a 5-0 lead before they made the second inning's first
out, the Cardinals maintained their grip on the National League's
top wild card spot with a win over the Padres.
Cardinals starter Adam Wainwright (15-7) tied Cincinnati's Johnny
Cueto for the league lead in wins, going seven innings.
Wainwright allowed seven hits and four runs, three earned, with a
walk and five strikeouts.
Third baseman Matt Carpenter was the heavy hitter for St. Louis
(66-57), going 3-for-4 with a solo homer.

Mariners 8, Tigers 1
Chris Young tossed six scoreless innings and Kyle Seager drove in
three runs as the Seattle Mariners cruised to a victory over the
sloppy Detroit Tigers.
Young (12-6) allowed four hits and struck out four while winning his
fourth consecutive decision. Second baseman Robinson Cano scored
three runs and right fielder Chris Denorfia added three hits and an
RBI for the Mariners (67-56), who took two of three games in the
series.
The Tigers fell to 66-56.

Orioles 4, Indians 1
Steve Pearce and Jonathan Schoop homered and Kevin Gausman combined
with three relievers on a two-hitter as the Baltimore Orioles beat
the Cleveland Indians.
Gausman (7-4) pitched six innings and held the Indians to one run on
two hits. Left-hander Zach Britton pitched the ninth to pick up his
26th save for the first-place Orioles (70-52).

Yankees 4, Rays 2
New York Yankees got strong pitching from Hiroki Kuroda and strung
together four consecutive hits in the fifth inning to beat the Tampa Bay
Rays.
Kurodo pitched 6 2/3 innings to get the win for the Yankees.
Evan Longoria recorded both RBIs for the Rays (61-63).

Astros 8, Red Sox 1
Jose Altuve had four hits, including a grand slam in a six-run second
inning as the Astros earned a split of their four-game series with the
Red Sox.
Altuve, who leads the Major Leagues with 173 hits, finished the game
hitting Major League-best .339.

Marlins 10, Diamondbacks 3
The Miami Marlins, backed by Giancarlo Stanton's three-run homer and
four RBIs, reached .500 with a win over the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Stanton, the right fielder, has powered Miami (62-62) this season and
leads the National League in homers (32) and RBIs (88).

Cubs 2, Mets 1
Shortstop Starlin Castro homered on the first pitch of the ninth inning
to snap a tie and lift the Chicago Cubs to a win over the New York Mets.
Castro and right fielder Ryan Sweeney each had two hits while third
baseman Luis Valbuena had an RBI single in the fourth for the Cubs
(53-70), who snapped a three-game losing streak.

Rockies 10, Reds 9 (first game)
Drew Stubbs' three-run homer capped the Rockies' five-run ninth inning,
and Colorado rallied for a stunning win over the Cincinnati Reds.
Stubbs finished with three hits and Nolan Arenado went 4-for-4 as
Colorado overcame a 9-5 deficit in the ninth.
Cincinnati (61-62) closer Aroldis Chapman walked all four batters he
faced in the pivotal inning, setting the comeback in motion.

Rockies 10, Reds 5 (second game)
Michael Cuddyer hit for the cycle to highlight Colorado's doubleheader
sweep of Cincinnati.
Cuddyer doubled in the eighth inning, where the Rockies scored five
runs, to complete the feat.
The Rockies beat the Reds 10-9 in the earlier game.

White Sox 7, Blue Jays 5
Conor Gillaspie hit his first career grand slam in a six-run first
inning and the Chicago White Sox beat the Toronto Blue Jays.
After allowing a run in the top of the first, Chicago (59-65) stormed
back in the bottom half against right-hander Drew Hutchison.

Braves 4, A's 3
Justin Upton and Chris Johnson backed Mike Minor with home runs, and the
Atlanta Braves completed a three-game interleague sweep with a victory
over Oakland.
Minor (5-8) allowed just four hits over seven innings for the Braves
(64-60), the only damage against him two bases-empty homers by A's first
baseman Nate Freiman.
The A's (73-51) completed a 1-6 road trip with their fifth consecutive
loss and fell into a tie for first place with the Los Angeles Angels in
the American League West. Oakland led by four games at the start of the
