							Obituary 
							 Bernice L. Hackett, 94, of Lincoln, passed away at 2:16 p.m. on Friday, 
							August 15, 2014 at Abraham Lincoln Memorial 
							Hospital.  Bernice was born on April, 2, 1920, near New Holland, daughter of 
							Frederick and Bertha Balzerick Mahler.  She was 
							united in marriage to Horace C. Hackett on February 
							22, 1942, in Hannibal, MO.  He preceded her in death 
							on October 12, 1977.  Bernice is survived by her 
							son: Joseph Paul (Irene) Hackett of Emden; 
							grandchildren: Gwen (Bill) Boyce of Havana, IL and 
							their children: Andy, Katie, and Kellie; Beth (Paul) 
							Bryan of Emden and their children: Savanna, Eli, and 
							Zach; Greg Hackett and Josh Hackett of Lincoln.  She 
							was preceded in death by her Parents, three brothers 
							and three sisters, and her grandson: Tony Hackett.  Bernice retired in 1983 from Merle Norman Cosmetics as an owner/operator 
							for 25 years.  She later worked as a seamstress at 
							Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital for 13 years.  
							Bernice was active in many church and civic 
							organizations, including: ABWA, Zonta Club, charter 
							member and past president of the Oasis, she held 
							offices with the Chamber of Commerce, and was active 
							in the PTA at Jefferson School.  Bernice was a 
							member of the Zion Lutheran Church, she was active 
							in the Ladies Aid at Zion, and she taught Sunday 
							school.   | 
                    
					 Services for Bernice will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 21, 
							2014, at Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln with Rev. 
							Mark Thompson officiating.  A visitation will be 
							held from 4-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 20 at 
							Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home and from 
							10-11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the church.  A 
							graveside service will be at Tuscola Cemetery on 
							Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 1:00 p.m.  Memorials 
							may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church or to the 
							Zion Lutheran School.
