Lincoln- Wanda Charlene Johnson Payne, 91, of Lincoln, passed away at 8:40 p.m. on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.

Charlene was born on October 26, 1922 in Heyworth, IL, daughter of Lee and Irene Ball Moneymaker. She was united in marriage to Lindsey Blankenship and later divorced. She then married Harold Johnson in May of 1959. He preceded her in August of 1992. She then married Shirley Payne in 1995. He preceded her in death in 2000. She is survived by her daughter: Patricia (Curt) Cline of Midland City, IL; step daughter: Kay Thompson of Lincoln; granddaughter: Danyelle Roth of Carbondale, CO;eight step grandchildren and many great grandchildren who fondly referred to her as Grandma Chiney. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, infant daughter and son; and her brother: Clayton Moneymaker.

 

Cremation rites were performed according to Charlene’s wishes. Burial will be at a later date in Heyworth Randolph Township Cemetery in Heyworth. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to St. Clara’s Manor. Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
