Services for Betty will be held at 10:00 a.m. on
Saturday, August 23, 2014 at First United Methodist
Church with Rev. Michael Paulson officiating. A
visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday,
August 22 at Fricke Calvert Schrader Funeral Home in
Lincoln. Burial will be at New Union Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Lincoln Emblem Club.

Obituary
Elizabeth J. “Betty” Marvel , 88, passed away at
8:23 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield,
IL on August 20, 2014 surrounded by her loving
family.
Betty was born on January 4, 1926 in Lincoln at St.
Clara’s Hospital. Betty was raised by her
grandmother Lillian Burrell. Betty married Jess R.
Wade, who preceded her in death on May 1, 1986. She
married Wayne Marvel in 1994, who preceded her in
death in 2004.

Betty is survived by her children: Jess Howard Wade
of Lincoln and the mother of his children; Ann
Musselman; grandchildren: Jess Jr. (Kathy) Wade,
Stephanie (Paul) Brown, and grandson: Jeffrey
(Elizabeth) Wade; great grandchildren: Jessi Wade,
Dakota Brown, Jonah Brown, and Cali Wade; son:
Thomas Michael (Patricia) Wade of Westerville, OH
grandchildren: Hayley wade and Sheldon (Sarah) Wade
and their child: Cougan Snodgrass; daughter: Diana
Gail (Ronald) Tucker of Lincoln and their children:
Vickie (Damon) Schhattweiler, Shawn (Keith)
Christenson, Dawn (Donnie) Osborne, and Michael (Kasy)
Tucker; Kayla (Chris) Benshoff; Correnna Pfeifer;
Bethany Schlattweiler; Jorden Schlattweiler; great
grandchildren: Kerstin Osborne; Wesley Osborne; Alex
Tucker, Brylie Tucker, Cameron Chirstensen; great
great grandchildren: Brodie and Lilly Benshoff;
daughter: Linda (Bill) Melton of Lincoln;
granddaughters: Heather (Bradley) Vose, Kristi Amber
Melton; great grandsons: Cohen and Ethan Vose; and
granddaughter: Laikin Vose; and the love of Betty’s
life for the past 8 years: Ken Harrell.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands,
infant daughter Vickie Gail and grandson Jess Wade.
Betty was a member of the First United Methodist
Church, the Emblem Club, Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge,
Eagles, and the American Legion Auxilliary. She
loved playing cards, ballroom dancing, traveling;
she was a superior cook and made the best pie in the
country.
