The former Baltimore Ravens running back was reinstated to the
NFL on Friday when his indefinite suspension was lifted after an
appeal, but so far he has not landed a job.
According to reports, four or more teams have shown interest in
Rice.
"They would have to be willing to look deeper into who I am and
realize that me and my wife had one bad night, and I took full
responsibility for it," Rice said. "And one thing about my
punishment and everything going along with anything that happened is
that I've accepted it.
"I went fully forward with it. I never complained, or I never did
anything like that. I took full responsibility for everything that I
did, and the only thing I can hope for and wish for is a second
chance."
Rice appeared in the interview with his wife, Janay, and her
parents.
---Adrian Peterson had a chance to testify during his appeal hearing
in New York and according to NFL.com, the suspended running decided
not to.
The Minnesota Vikings running back is hoping to have his suspension
overturned after NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell punished him for
violating the league's personal conduct policy for what the league
called an "incident of abusive discipline" toward his 4-year-old
son.
The hearing is expected to resume Thursday.
NFL.com said third-party arbitrator Harold Henderson asked Peterson
if he would like to speak and he did for around 10 minutes, but he
was not called as a witness.
NFL executive vice president of football operations Troy Vincent is
slated to testify Thursday according to reports.
---Arizona Cardinals safety Tyrann Mathieu was hoping to be able to
play with a protective cast after he suffered a thumb injury during
Sunday's 29-18 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, but it appears that
won't be the case.
ESPN reported that Mathieu's fractured and dislocated thumb will
need surgery to insert a pin for healing and that he probably would
be out of action for three games.
Mathieu, who missed the season opener while in the final stages of
recovering from a torn ACL last year, has logged 29 tackles and one
interception for the Cardinals.
--The slumping New York Giants placed defensive ends Mathias
Kiwanuka and Robert Ayers, linebacker Terrell Manning and offensive
linemen Geoff Schwartz and Adam Snyder on injured reserve.
A lingering knee injury might mark the end of Kiwanuka's Giants
career. During his nine seasons with the team, Kiwanuka has earned
two Super Bowl rings.
Ayers tore a pectoral muscle Sunday during the Giants' 25-24 loss to
the Jacksonville Jaguars. Schwartz sustained tendon damage in his
left ankle on Sunday, according to coach Tom Coughlin. Manning has
an ankle injury, and Snyder has a knee ailment.

The Buccaneers also re-signed cornerback C.J. Wilson to the
practice squad. He had spent nine weeks with the practice squad
earlier this year and also was on the Bucs' roster for two games but
inactive for both. Patton played six games for the Buccaneers
earlier this season, returning 10 punts for 112 yards and 17
kickoffs for 393 yards and running the ball one time for 19 yards.
He was waived by Tampa Bay on Oct. 21 and picked up tby the
Cardinals.
---The reeling Carolina Panthers waived cornerback Antoine Cason and
linebacker Jason Williams and signed cornerback Carrington Byndom
and linebacker Horace Miller to the active roster from the practice
squad.
The 28-year-old Cason made 11 starts this season and had 55 tackles,
two interceptions, four forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. He
joined the Panthers this season after spending last year with the
Arizona Cardinals.
---NFL Players Association president Eric Winston returned to the
league when the Cincinnati Bengals signed him to a one-year
contract.
The 31-year-old right tackle was last with the Seattle Seahawks in
training camp this summer but failed to make the cut.
The Bengals were looking for offensive line help after losing right
tackle Andre Smith last week to a season-ending triceps injury. He
was placed on injured reserve.
---The Chicago Bears play the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday and might
be without kicker Robbie Gould and wide receiver Alshon Jeffery.
Jeffery sat out practice because of hamstring that also limited him
in Monday's practice. Coach Marc Trestman said it was a
"precautionary" move to keep Jeffery out of practice.
A sore quadriceps kept Gould on the sideline Tuesday. Rookie punter
Pat O'Donnell handled the placekicking chores just in case Gould
can't go Thursday.
---The Tennessee Titans placed wide receiver Justin Hunter on
season-ending injured reserve with a lacerated spleen.
Hunter was hospitalized in Houston after he was injured in the first
quarter of the Titans' 45-21 loss to the Texans on Sunday. He had
one catch for 18 yards in the game.
