Governor Quinn announces $39.3 million
investments for Central Illinois construction projects
Includes Road, College and Airport Work in
Cass, Livingston, Logan, Macon, McLean, Morgan, Sangamon, Tazewell and
Woodford Counties

SPRINGFIELD
– Governor Pat Quinn today announced investments of more than $39.3
million for construction projects in central Illinois. The road,
college and airport projects in Cass, Livingston, Logan, Macon,
McLean, Morgan, Sangamon, Tazewell and Woodford Counties are all
part of his $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! capital construction
program, and address critical infrastructure needs in central
Illinois.

“I led passage of the Illinois Jobs Now! program immediately
after taking office in 2009 because the state had gone nearly ten
years without major capital construction legislation to repair and
maintain the state’s infrastructure,” Governor Quinn said. “With
Illinois Jobs Now!, we’ve been able to put hundreds of thousands of
people to work on badly needed construction jobs while making
central Illinois a better place to live and work.”
The projects will be managed by the Illinois Department of
Transportation (IDOT) except where noted.
Cass County
Selected deck expansion joints on U.S. 67/100 will be replaced for
$737,570 by Freesen, a Division of United Contractors Midwest, Inc.
of Springfield, the lowest of four bidders.
Livingston County
The apron and connecting taxiway will be rehabilitated at Pontiac
Municipal Airport for $340,959 by H.J. Eppel & Co., Inc. of Pontiac,
the lower of two bidders. The IDOT Division of Aeronautics will
manage the project, which includes federal, state and local funding.
Logan County
Interstate 55 will receive 14.9 miles of pavement patching,
resurfacing, mainline, shoulders and ramps, pavement markings,
guardrail improvement, minor drainage items and collateral work for
$31,899,598 by R.A. Cullinan & Son of Tremont.
Macon County
Bridge deck replacement will be done on the structures carrying
Business U.S. 51 over Lake Decatur in Decatur, as well as earthwork,
storm sewer, highway lighting, temporary pavement, curb, gutter and
pavement marking for $4,025,000 by Illinois Constructors Corporation
of Elburn, the lowest of five bidders.
McLean County
Interstate 39 will receive 4.5 miles of pavement patching from
Sixmile Creek southwest of Hudson to Woodford County Line for
$609,860 by Kinney Contractors, Inc. of Raymond, the lowest of three
bidders.
Morgan County
Tree removal and aggregate surface course will be done at various
locations near the Illinois Route 104 Illinois River Bridge at
Meredosia for $80,819 by Freesen, a Division of United Contractors
Midwest, Inc. of Springfield, the lowest of five bidders.

Sangamon County
Exterior repairs will be made to Sangamon and Menard Halls and
Cass Gymnasium at Lincoln Land Community College in a project
managed by the Illinois Capital Development Board. The work
includes repairing damaged brick, concrete masonry units and
concrete areas; tuckpointing; replacing masonry veneer;
repairing and resealing control joints; removing and replacing
window and door caulked joints; repairing concrete columns; and
waterproofing. Pulliam Masonry of Springfield was the lowest of
six bidders for the work at $608,647.
Storm sewer rehabilitation will be done at Abraham Lincoln
Capital Airport for $555,555 by L.W. Rouland Trucking Service,
Inc. of Jacksonville, the lowest of three bidders. The IDOT
Division of Aeronautics will manage the project, which includes
federal, state and local funding.
Tazewell County
The Pekin Municipal Airport will receive drainage and paving
work for $303,179 by R.A. Cullinan & Son, a Division of United
Contractors Midwest, Inc. The IDOT Division of Aeronautics will
manage the project, which includes federal, state and local
funding.
Tazewell and Woodford Counties
New sidewalk, replacement of existing sidewalks, pipe culvert
installation and pavement markings will be done at various
locations within the vicinity of Deer Creek-Mackinaw
Intermediate School in the Village of Deer Creek for $205,180 by
Illinois Civil Contractors, Inc. of East Peoria, the lower of
two bidders.
The projects are part of Governor Quinn’s $31 billion Illinois
Jobs Now! program, which will support more than 439,000 jobs
over six years.Illinois Jobs Now! is the largest construction
program in Illinois history, and is one of the largest
construction programs in the nation.
