RBTC came out quick and physical, which took the Red Lions by
surprise. At 14:28 in the first half, Rhema led by one bucket. It
would be their last lead for the game as LCU matched the Eagles'
intensity to take the lead and control the game from there on out.
Leading by 6 at the half, 27-33, LCU dialed up their competitiveness
and took the game from the Eagles.
In the second half, LCU stretched their lead as they put on a clinic
of cooperative play where every Red Lions player put at least two
points on the books. The LCU women looked collected and confident as
they battled for every loose ball, blocked 4 shots and had 14
steals. As the timer ticked down, LCU stretched out their biggest
lead at the end of the game to win with the comfortable margin of 22
points.
Three Red Lions shared the bulk of the scoring with Tatiana
Colclasure (SR/Effingham, IL), Emily Borst (JR/Lincoln, IL) and
Abbey Akre (SO/Newark, IL) all tallying 11 points, followed by Betty
Elliot at 10. Erin Taylor (FR/Noble, IL) pulled in 8 rebounds for
the Red Lions, followed by Colclasure with 7, while Borst racked up
7 steals. Colclasure led in assists with 10.
