Headed for State Title Game

LINCOLN
- The 7th grade West Lincoln Broadwell Lady Wolverines opened up
their State Tournament play by facing the two time defending State
Champions, Danville Schlarman. Both teams came out in the first quarter
playing a bit nervous as the score after 1 quarter was 6-4 Danville, and
by halftime they had increased their lead to 12-7. The Wolverines
outscored Danville in the third quarter 11-2 putting the Lady Wolverines
ahead at the end of 3 with a score of 18-14.

The fourth quarter was not a disappointment to the many fans that
attended the game as their were several lead changes before the Lady
Wolverines sealed the deal by a score of 34-31. Leah Schneider led
all scorers in the game with 28 points as Madeyn Koehler helped with
3, Emily Paulus 2, and Madison Orebaugh 1. Leah Schneider pulled
down an amazing 22 rebounds as Emily Paulus had 10 and Madison
Orebaugh grabbed 8. With the win the Lady Wolverines would move into
the semi-final game that evening against Pontiac St. Mary's.
The Semi-Final match up between the Lady Wolverines and Pontiac
St.Mary's started off very similar to the first game as the Lady
Wolverines struggled to find the basket. At the end of the first
quarter the Lady Wolverines were down 6-2. The Lady Wolverines
reached deep down as this was their 5th game in 4 days for most of
the players and battled back to defeat St. Marys by a score of
38-24. Leah Schneider once again led all scorers with 27 as Madelyn
Koehler provided 4, Emily Paulus 3, Madison Orebaugh 2, Makayla
Anderson 2. Schneider once again controlled the boards as she pulled
down 17 rebounds and had 3 block shots, Madison Orebaugh 6 rebounds,
Madelyn Koehler and Emily Paulus both with 4.

With the win the WLB Lady Wolverines will now play in the State
Championship game on Thursday December 11th, at 7:30. The Lady
Wolverines invite all to make the short drive up and support your
Lady Wolverines who are now 21-0 and will face Jacksonville Our
Saviour for the State Title game.
The Lady Wolverines would also like to recognize Leah Schneider for
breaking three 7 1-A records thus far in the IESA State tournament.
Record 1. Most Points in a game with 28, Record 2. Most 2 pt. Field
goals in a game with 12 and Record 3. Most total field goals in a
game with 12. Congratulations to Leah Schneider and the entire WLB
Lady Wolverine Basketball Team.
