Obituary
Joyce Ann Grimsley, 59, of Lincoln died at 12:38
a.m. December 5, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center,
Springfield.
Joyce was born October 1, 1955 at Hopedale, IL, the
daughter of Eugene M. and Margaret Anne Stults
Hilgendorf. She married John Grimsley October 13,
1979 in Lincoln. He survives in Lincoln.
Joyce is also survived by her father; one brother:
William (Debbie) Hilgendorf of Broadwell and one
sister: Sue O’Hara of Lincoln. She was preceded in
death by her mother and a niece, Misty Johnson.

Joyce worked as a waitress at Wyse’s Carry Out;
Customer Service Rep for State Farm at Lincoln
Office Supply for over 10 years and Illico Oil
Company as receptionist for 22 years. She graduated
from Lincoln Community High School and attended
Western Illinois University. She was a member of
Broadwell Christian Church; American Legion
Auxiliary dedicating many hours for fish fry’s,
Monday night food, and projects for Veterans at
Danville Hospital. She was a volunteer at St.
Clara’s Manor Activity Department and helped with
crafts and serving juice to residents. She was
“Volunteer of the Year” at St. Clara’s Manor.
Services for Joyce will be Wednesday, December 10,
2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home, Lincoln. Burial will be in Hartsburg
Cemetery following service. Visitation will be
Tuesday evening from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral
home. Memorials may be given in her memory to
American Legion Auxiliary Post #263 or St. Clara’s
Manor Activity Department.
