Obituary
Elmond R. “Pick” Meyer, 98, of New Holland passed
away at 10:34 a.m. on Friday December 5, 2014 at
Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.
Pick was born on September 27, 1916 in Hartsburg,
the Son of Herman and Caroline Bucholz Meyer. He was
married to Mabel Campbell. She preceded him in death
on October 1, 1990. He later married Mary Armstrong
on July 5, 1991 in Lincoln. She survives him.
Pick is also survived by his son, Mike Meyer of
Atlanta; stepson, Scott (Gretchen) Johnson of Pekin;
stepdaughter, Terri Melton of Taylorville; seven
grandchildren; one great-grandchild; nephews: Dan,
Terry, Leo Jr., Gordon, and Dave Meyer; and nieces:
Janice Meyer, Cindi Eimer, and Jane Novak. Pick was
preceded in death by his parents; his first wife;
his brothers; and sister. |
Pick served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army
in the 112th Calvary, where he was the recipient of
the Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. Following the
war he worked as a farmer in the New Holland area.
He attended Park Meadows Baptist Church.
Services for Pick will be on Thursday December 11,
2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Park Meadows Baptist Church in
Lincoln. Burial will be in Camp Butler National
Cemetery in Springfield, with full military rites
accorded by the Lincoln American Legion Post #263.
Visitation will be Thursday from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at
the Church. Memorials donations may be made in
Pick’s name to The American Legion Post #263.
