[December 11, 2014]  LINCOLN - The Lincoln Christian University (LCU) Women's Basketball team made the most of a see-saw game with in-state rival Moody Bible Institute (MBI) on Thursday night in front of an electric home crowd. The Moody Archers made the LCU Red Lions work for the victory, and earn it they did, as they bounced up to a 55-51 win.

Lincoln Christian was put on their heels early as the Archers swept out to an early lead that stretched to as much as 15 midway through the first half. The Red Lions found their courage in the latter half of the first half and roared back to tie at 25-25 as they went into the locker room.

In the second half, each team jockeyed for position as the lead went back and forth three times. LCU pulled out to a comfortable 11-point lead with 10 minutes left in the game, only to have it closed to another tie. In the final seconds, LCU was able to stretch out a four point cushion to secure win five on the season.

The Red Lions depended heavily on their post players tonight. Center Betty Elliott (SO/Crawfordsville, IN) led the scoring for the Red Lions with 16, followed closely by Katie Boyce (FR/Havana, IL) with 13. Elliott pulled in 11 rebounds for the double-double with Tatiana Colclasure (SR/Effingham, IL) securing 9 boards and leading in assists with 6.

LCU’s School of Undergraduate Studies is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA).
