CHICAGO
– Illinois employers in November posted 214,000 help-wanted ads on the
internet and 85 percent sought full time workers, the Illinois
Department of Employment Security said today, citing the independent
Conference Board report. The data is seasonally adjusted.

The November tally is 2,000 more than October and 14,000 more
than one year ago. November also marks the sixth consecutive month
Illinois employers have advertised for more than 200,000 job
opportunities.
“Successful job candidates build specific resumes for each
opportunity rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach,” IDES
Director Jay Rowell said. “Explain why your experience and skills
will help a company succeed. Be very specific on why you can do well
in the position and provide examples of past success.”
Help wanted leaders include the Bloomington/Peoria region (10,700),
Decatur/Springfield (7,000), Rockford Stateline (6,800)
Champaign/Danville (6,000) and the Quad Cities (5,200). The Chicago
metro area (161,800) always will lead the state because it has the
greatest population of any Economic Development Region.
The Conference Board collects the Help Wanted Online data. The
Conference Board is a global, independent business membership and
research association. The data represents industries that post
online job ads. There likely are more opportunities because some
industries, such as construction, typically do not advertise online.
Included in the data are 160,000 positions advertised on
IllinoisJobLink.com. Job seekers can build multiple resumes to
emphasize different skills and experiences. Business owners can use
keyword matching technology to search resumes and find the best
