Brett Huff came in off the bench to drain a three for Mount
Pulaski in the second quarter and freshman Peyton Taylor also
entered the game and the 6'5 big man was good for two points in
the paint, narrowing the lead to 18-10. Later a steal by Michael
Lowery and the long pass to Curry would be good for nice layup,
but the Bullets still held on to a nice lead at 24-16. The
Toppers continued to keep pace with the very athletic Bullets.
Beau Collier drained a long three just before halftime and the
Toppers headed to the locker room still trailing by a nine-point
margin, 31-22.
Beau Collier continued his scoring run by hitting another three
to open the third quarter scoring for the Toppers. Beau Collier
also connected for two points on a nice pass from Lowery to edge
the Toppers closer at 35-29. Williamsville managed a 9-0 run at
this point between the third and fourth quarters and led the
Toppers 44-29.
The Bullets just continued to take advantage of Topper turnovers
and run away with the game in the fourth quarter, winning 60-42.
Mount Pulaski falls to 3-5 on the season and Williamsville
improves to 3-2.
The Toppers travel to Athens Friday night to take on the
Warriors at 7:30 pm.
