The Calgary Flames signed coach Bob Hartley to a multiyear contract
extension on Wednesday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed by the
team.
Hartley, 54, took the job in May 2012 and since the Flames have
posted a 71-79-13 record. Calgary is 17-14-2 this season and is
fifth in the Pacific Division and ninth in the Western Conference
with 36 points.

Nashville Predators forward James Neal was fined $2,000 by the NHL
on Wednesday for diving during Saturday's game against the San Jose
Sharks.
Neal drew a minor penalty for embellishment during the third period
in San Jose. He had received a warning for embellishment a month
earlier after a game against the St. Louis Blues.

The Minnesota Wild recalled goaltender John Curry from the Iowa Wild
of the American Hockey League on Wednesday.
Curry, 30, stopped 33 of 34 shots faced in two periods against
Rockford on Tuesday night in Iowa's 5-1 win.

The Buffalo Sabres reassigned center Mikhail Grigorenko to the
Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League on Wednesday after
he made his made his season debut with the NHL club.
In Tuesday night's 5-1 loss to the Winnipeg Jets, Grigorenko played
