Don-Green-2014.pngBoard Chair Dr. Gene Harker said, “After
conducting a national search, it is clear that Dr. Green is the best
fit for our university. He is a trusted visionary with a servant’s
heart and he brings many years of higher-education experience and
successful leadership to the office. I wish to thank the members of
the Search Advisory Team and the Board of Trustees for their
tireless efforts. We now stand ready to walk shoulder-to-shoulder
with Dr. Green as he pursues our vision and executes our mission.”
Dr. Neal Windham, who served as a faculty representative on the
Search Advisory Team, said of this decision, “Honestly, we could not
have chosen a more qualified person for the job.”
Green has been serving as LCU’s Transitional President since June 1,
2014. Though he has been acting with the full authority and
responsibility of the office since June, his official tenure will
begin immediately.
Green is a graduate of Lincoln Christian University (Bachelor of
Arts from the former Lincoln Christian College and Master of
Divinity from Lincoln Christian Seminary) and earned his Doctor of
Ministry from the Trinity Evangelical Divinity School of Trinity
International University. He is a member of both the International
Leadership Association and the International Mentoring Association.
Dr. Green has been an integral part of the Lincoln Christian
community for 47 years where he has gained the respect of the LCU
community as a servant leader. Since 1979, he has served in the
roles of Trustee, Administrative Assistant to the President,
Director of Development, Executive Vice President, Vice President of
Church Development and Transitional President.
Green developed LCU’s first online master’s degree program in 2009.
That program, the MA in Organizational Leadership, continues to be
one of the university’s most popular online degrees. As Professor of
Leadership and Director of the online MA in Organizational
Leadership and the Seminary’s Doctor of Ministry, Master of Arts and
Master of Divinity Leadership specializations, Dr. Green teaches
many of the core leadership courses and is one of LCU’s highest
rated professors.

Following his appointment Green said, “I am both honored and
humbled to accept the call to serve our students, faculty,
staff, administration, alumni, and churches in this way at this
time. With God’s help I look forward to seeing that the mission
of LCU is faithfully fulfilled as new generations of Lincoln
Leaders are equipped to serve the church and impact the world
for Christ.”
Green served in full-time preaching ministry before becoming
part of the LCU administrative team in 1982. Since that time,
Green has demonstrated an extraordinary capacity for teaching,
preaching leading and engaging organizational culture. He
continues to be in demand as a speaker and church consultant and
will share the podium with national author Mark Mittelberg at
LCU’s Elders’ and Church Leaders Conference on February 21, 2015
in Lincoln, IL.
Dr. Green and his wife Margaret have been married for 45 years
and live in Lincoln, IL. Their daughter, Lara, lives in
Springfield, Illinois, with her husband Jon Morrissette who
serves as Lead Minister with the Lakeside Christian Church.
The LCU Board of Trustees formed a Search Advisory Team in April
(comprised of Trustees, Faculty and Administrators) who further
engaged the services of Dr. Paul Corts of AGB Search in June to
assist in the Presidential Search.
