Harold Dean Schmidt “Smitty”, 73, of Lincoln, passed
away December 16, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center,
Springfield, IL.
A time of visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7
p.m. Sunday, December 21, 2014 at Holland Barry &
Bennett Funeral Home in Lincoln. Memorial services
will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday also at the funeral
home with John Guzzardo officiating. Cremation rites
will be accorded. Burial will take place at a later
date.
Harold was born November 22, 1941 in Lincoln, IL.,
the son of Virgil and Florence Eleanor (Turner)
Schmidt. He married Phyllis Wilson on October 29,
1961 in Lincoln. He was a member of Immanuel
Lutheran Church. Harold was a member of the Elks
Lodge 914. He was employed in sales for
several local companies: Fuller Seed, Tom Ashley
Ford, Jim Xamis Ford and Coy’s. He was also a
delivery driver for Guzzardo’s Italian Villa.
Harold enjoyed golfing and playing cards. Smitty was
always there to lend a helping hand. He mowed yards
and did handiwork for the neighbors and was a friend
to everyone. |
Surviving are his wife Phyllis Schmidt of Lincoln;
his children Greg (Kim ) Schmidt of Lincoln,
Kimberly Decker of Lincoln, and Jeff (Dawn) Schmidt
of Batavia; his grandchildren: Austin Schmidt,
Connor Schmidt, Ryleigh Schmidt, Joel Schmidt,
Dakota Decker, Ethan Schmidt, and Elliot Schmidt;
his great grandson Gage Hickey; many cousins and
friends and his loving canine companion, Lucy.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society
of Logan County and will be accepted at the funeral
home.
