[December 26, 2014]  Dec 24 (The Sports Xchange) - The NHL suspended San Jose Sharks forward John Scott for four games on Wednesday for punching Anaheim Ducks forward Tim Jackman.

The league announced that Scott was banned without pay for punching "an unsuspecting opponent and causing injury."

The incident took place in Anaheim on Monday at 8:18 of the second period as the Ducks defeated the Sharks 3-2 in overtime.

Under the collective bargaining agreement, Scott is considered a repeat offender and will forfeit $34,146.36 based on his annual salary. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.

Scott has one goal and one assist in 15 games this season.
