[December 30, 2014]  When we have finally reached the bottom of hopelessness and despair, we have looked everywhere to find some hope, the only place we have to look is up. As we examine our lives and rehearse all we have been through, remember all those who have promised to stay with us, but drifted away at the beginning of the roughest times, we look for some stability in life and a reason for staying.

Our body, our soul, our spirit is created by God to seek Him, worship Him and yield to Him by accepting His grace and total forgiveness. We raise our hands and our hearts to reach out to Him and His blessings; we seek His comfort and forgiveness by yielding to Him and accepting Him. Only then can we find rest in our own selves as we forgive ourselves from within His mercy and grace. We find forgiveness and deep joy in King Solomon’s message in Proverbs chapter three:

“Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.” (Proverbs 3:13 KJV)

The world seems in turmoil more and more each day. Evil has taken over the Middle East, Russia has invaded, and now occupies, Crimea and continues to be a serious threat with a very real possibility of invading Ukraine after their take-over of Crimea. Seemingly it was not enough for Russia to annex that land between the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.

ISIS or ISIL continues their movement from Syria to Iraq establishing for themselves a Caliphate of operations from which to launch more terror. The terror continues to rein with televised beheadings of innocent people, intentional murders of women and children, and slaughter of Christians who refuse to disavow their love of Christ, even children who continue to say they trust in Jesus.

The civil war in Syria continues to rage on and diplomats all over the world representing their home countries are debating for a place in the world that seemingly is more hostile than ever before. That is especially true since in our modern times we have the ability to wage war with nuclear weapons that could presumably be more deadly that all the other wars combined.

On the domestic front we have passed through rigorous elections, multiple scandals, been recipients of actual terrorist attacks and some thwarted ones as well, and experienced an increase in divisions of all kinds. Currently, we are experiencing a racial divide that seems much more divisive than it has been in the last decade. Trust levels between law enforcement and civilians are breaking down with many actually calling for an uprising that even includes killing other human beings.

So, without a doubt we should pray for those around us who need our prayers. Billy Graham was heard to say one day, "There are more things wrought with prayer than anyone knows." Without a doubt our country, other nations in our world, and each individual in the world needs to turn to their Creator, talk to Him in prayer and acknowledge Him and His power through prayer.

Therefore, through our prayers and our search for God's Wisdom, we find deep joy and contentment when we commit ourselves to God and His Wisdom. When we finally yield ourselves over to God and submit to His Spirit to lead us throughout our lives, we find a deep satisfaction that cannot be obtained from anywhere else. We are more than happy; we are filled with a deeply-rooted joy through a washing of our spirit that returns a fulfillment that feels almost like it is heaven-filled. We walk in step with God, pleasing Him as we have yielded to Him; He rewards us with knowing we are at last right with Him. It brings a lasting reward that opens our eyes to understanding that goes beyond anything we have ever experienced.

Begin the new year with a steadfast commitment to "Seek first the Kingdom of God" and knowing that we will find joy and contentment in all circumstances. God does not always take away all the pain and suffering we experience, He will, however, give us the strength to pass through that experience.
