Seventh-grade Wolverines end season at sectional

[February 08, 2014]  HARTSBURG — The seventh-grade West Lincoln-Broadwell Wolverines, who went on an impressive five-game winning streak to end their regular season and win the Delavan Regional, fell Thursday night 44-26 to Morton Blessed Sacrament in the title game of the Hartsburg-Emden Sectional. The loss ends WLB's season with a 10-11 record.

Payton Batley and Kameron Whiteman each scored 11 points in the loss. Also scoring for WLB were Blain Robbins with three and Kaden Froebe with one. Joe Zern led the Tars from Morton with 18 and Andrew Bolt added 12.

Morton Blessed Sacrament advances to the seventh-grade state tournament in St. Joseph on Saturday.

For the eighth-grade Wolverines, the postseason continued with a 6:30 p.m. game at Normal Calvary on Friday in a first-round contest versus Bloomington Cornerstone Christian.
