Catherine R. "Katie" Brooks, 91, of Lincoln, died Tuesday, Feb. 11,
2014, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

Lincoln- Catherine R. "Katie" Brooks, 91, of Lincoln
passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at Abraham
Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday,
February 15, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Family
Catholic Church in Lincoln with Rev. Glenn Fontana
officiating.
A Rosary Service will be held on Saturday at 12:30
p. m. at the church prior to the visitation.
Visitation will be held from 12:45 p.m. until 2:00
p.m. on Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church in
Lincoln.
Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Lincoln.
Catherine R. Brooks was born on November 5, 1922 in
Lincoln the daughter of John and Fairy Huff Ready.
She married Kenneth A. Brooks on October 30, 1948 at
St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Lincoln. He
survives.
Also surviving are her children: Lori (Robert)
Mandel of Lisle, Ill., Kenneth L. (Paula) Brooks of
Missouri, one sister-in-law: Edna (Bill) Gaither of
Atlanta, eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother: Henry
Ready, one sister: Erna Ready.

Katie graduated from Lincoln Community High School
in 1941.
Mrs. Brooks is a member of Holy Family Catholic
Church and Knights of Columbus Auxiliary.
She retired from the Lincoln Community High School.
Katie will be missed by all who loved her and knew
her. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Memorials may be made to Carroll Catholic School.
Peasley Funeral Home is in assisting the
family with arrangements.
