LINCOLN — Verlin Parker, 88, of Lincoln, died Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at
2:15 p.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

LINCOLN- Verlin Parker, 88, of Lincoln passed away
at 2:15 p.m. Monday, February 17, 2014 at Abraham
Lincoln Memorial Hospital, Lincoln, IL.
Verlin was born November 2, 1925 in Danville,
Indiana, the son of Floyd V. and Elsie Hughes
Parker. He married Zelma C. Humphress August 31,
1946 in Clermont, IN. She survives in Lincoln.
Verlin is survived by two sons: Rick (April) Parker
of Rockford; Jeff (Connie) Parker of Lincoln; one
daughter: Becky (Eric) Radecki of Greenwood, IN; one
daughter-in-law: Adella Parker of Lane, IL; twelve
grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and one
great great grandchild; one sister: Lucille (Owen)
Stamper of Paris, TN. He was preceded in death by
one son: Mike Parker.

Verlin was a retired teacher, minister, and Business
Administrator. He farmed in Indiana after graduating
from Pittsboro High School in 1944; graduated from
Lincoln Bible Institute in 1957; held student
ministries in Easton, Beardstown and East St. Louis,
Illinois; Ministered with the Texas Christian Church
of Clinton, IL from 1959-1985; was an instructor in
New Testament Greek at Lincoln Christian College
from 1959-1965; Served in the Business
Administration of the College from 1963-2002. He was
a member of several evaluation teams for the
Accrediting Association of Bible Colleges; was an
organizer and first president of the Logan County
Schools Federal Credit Union; Served for some time
as the treasurer of the College Alumni Association
and received an Alumni Restoration Award in the
Field of Higher Christian Education in 1975. He was
a member of Lincoln Christian Church and The
Christian Corner Bible School Class.
Services for Verlin will be Friday, February 21,
2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Lincoln Christian Church with
Ron Otto officiating. Burial will follow services at
Zion Cemetery, Lincoln. Visitation will be Thursday
from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Lincoln Christian Church. All
arrangements were entrusted to
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln.
Memorials may be made in Verlin's memory to Lincoln
Christian University or Lincoln Christian Church.
