The Red Lions ladies fell behind early, but it took only seven
minutes to move into a permanent lead. LCU went into the locker
room with an eight-point lead, 27-19. But that was only a
prelude, as the Red Lions came out in the second half to add 38
to their already comfortable lead. Coach Amanda Bowman's Red
Lions posted their 12th win this season, their eighth
consecutive win, with a final score of 65-42. LCU junior
forward Tatiana Colclasure (Effingham/Effingham High) recorded
22 points to lead all scorers. Freshman guard Abbey Akre
(Newark/ Newark Community High) contributed 18 points and five
steals. The Red Lions controlled the boards as well,
outrebounding the Lady Cougars 59-30. Colclasure also led all
rebounders with 11.
Both men's and women's teams will meet Emmaus Bible College
on Saturday, with the women's game at 1 p.m. and the men at 3
p.m. There will be a special ceremony to induct two new members
of the LCU Athletic Hall of Fame after the women's game, at
approximately 2:45 p.m.
