Salt Creek bridge to close March 1

SPRINGFIELD — The Illinois
Department of Transportation has announced the upcoming complete
reconstruction of the bridge carrying Business Loop 55 over Salt
Creek at the south edge of Lincoln. In this project, the existing
bridge will be removed and a new bridge built during the road
closure. The business loop will close on March 1 and is scheduled to
reopen on Nov. 15. Marked detour routes will be used.

In addition to the bridge replacement, the project will consist of
reconstruction of the approaches to the bridge, hot-mix asphalt
paving, drainage improvements and the construction of a parking lot
and drainage pond for the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
The contractor on this $12,021,757.81 project is Halverson
Construction Co. of Springfield.
Motorists are urged to slow down and be cautious while driving
through all work zones.
