Logan County Committee Member Farewell and Thank You
We wish a big THANK YOU to Rod Conklen for serving a
full term of 9 years with the Logan County FSA
Committee. We are very grateful for the years of
service to his community by helping perserve
the grass roots system in Federal Agriculture
policy. Rod will be replaced by Dennis Ramlow of
Lincoln, IL.
We also congratulate Dennis Ramlow for his
willigness to serve on the County Committee and
represent LAA #1 (Prairie Creek, Orvil, Sheridan,
West Lincoln, Corwin, and Broadwell Townships).
Highly Erodible Land and Wetland Compliance
Landowners and operators are reminded that in order
to receive benefits from USDA, they must be
compliant with Highly Erodible Land Conservation
(HELC) and Wetland Conservation (WC) provisions.
Farmers with HEL determined soils must apply
tillage, crop residue and rotation requirements as
specified in their conservation plan or approved
system.
Producers should notify FSA prior to conducting land
clearing or drainage projects to ensure compliance.
Landowners and operators can complete form AD-1026
Highly Erodible Land Conservation (HELC) and Wetland
Conservation (WC) Certification to determine whether
a referral to Natural Resources Conservation Service
(NRCS) for a technical determination is necessary.

Soil & Water Conservation District - Up Coming Tree
Sale
The Logan County Soil & Water Conservation District
is conducting a spring tree sale. Several varieties
of evergreens, hardwoods and shrubs are available.
Prices range from $1.00 – 2.00 per tree. Order
forms are available online at
www.loganswcd.org or call the District
office at 217-735-5508 Ext. 3. Ordering deadline is
March 7, 2014. Delivery of the trees will be in
early April. Customers will be notified of the
exact delivery date in late March. |
