Laura was survived by her two sons; Robert P. Baker

Laura lived a long and full life. A life-long native
of Lincoln and Logan County, she was born at home
just outside of Lincoln on December 29, 1915 to
William and Loti Cutlip. She always spoke highly of
her hometown. She taught these lessons to those she
loved: believe in God, be ever thankful for your
health, love your family, appreciate your friends
and value your education.

She was a proud alumna of Lincoln College. As an
avid sports fan, a highlight of her final years was
being present as the LC boys basketball team won
Nationals. She loved the Bears. Teaching was a joy
to her and she often spoke of the students whose
lives she touched. Her first teaching assignment was
in a one room school located between Beason and
Chestnut. Later, Laura taught 5th grade in Mt.
Pulaski, IL from 1956-1976.
Service to others was an important part of Laura's
life. She served as a volunteer at St. Clara's
Manor, ALMH and the Oasis of Lincoln. She was a
member of the Lincoln Women's Club and the United
Methodist Women's group. Laura was a life-long
member of First United Methodist Church in Lincoln.
Arrangements are being handled by Fricke-Calvert
Schrader Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service
is being planned in her honor on Saturday, January
18 at 2:00 at First United Methodist Church in
Lincoln. Visitation will be one hour before. The
family wants to give a special thank you to
caregiver Sandy Graber and Harbor Light Hospice. In
lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the United
Methodist Church or the Oasis. The family invites
friends or former students to email words of
remembrance to
