Illinois American Water Recognizes High School Students
Two Mount Pulaski students among honorees

[June 30, 2014]  BELLEVILLE - Illinois American Water recently awarded Outstanding Water Project Awards in recognition of excellent water focused projects and research. The awards were presented to four Illinois high school students during the 86th Illinois FFA State Convention in Springfield.

The 2014 Outstanding Water Project Award recipients are Allie Lambert and Megan Dobbins, both of Southeastern High School in Augusta; as well as Samantha McCarty and Hannah Riedle, both of Mt. Pulaski High School. Illinois American Water presented each awardee with a plaque and cash award.

“These students are exemplary in every regard and highly deserving of this honor,” said Randy Pankiewicz, Manager of Water Quality and Environmental Compliance for Illinois American Water. “We wish them all the best as they pursue their academic endeavors and hope they will continue to concentrate on protecting our environment and water sources."

Illinois American Water established the Outstanding Water Project Award to recognize high school students choosing to focus on water research and related topics. High school students who are members of Illinois FFA are eligible to participate in the state convention and award competition. Since 2013, the company has awarded a total of $2,000 to eight Illinois students.
