The Vancouver Canucks signed three restricted free agents -- forward
Zack Kassian, defenseman Yannick Weber and goalie Joe Cannata -- on
Friday.
Kassian's two-year deal is for $3.5 million, the Vancouver Sun
reported. Weber's contract is for one season at $850,000, according
to TSN.

The Washington Capitals signed free agent forwards Tim Kennedy and
Kris Newbury to one-year, two-way contracts on Friday.
Kennedy had two goals and six assists in 37 games with the Phoenix
Coyotes last season. Newbury played four games last season with the
Philadelphia Flyers.

The Tampa Bay Lightning re-signed defenseman Andrej Sustr to a
one-year, one-way contract on Friday.
Sustr, 23, had one goal, seven assists and 16 penalty minutes in 43
games last season.

The Columbus Blue Jackets signed forward Brian Gibbons to a
one-year, two-way contract on Friday.
Gibbons, 26, had five goals and 17 points in 41 games for the
Pittsburgh Penguins as a rookie last season.

The Carolina Hurricanes signed forward Ben Holmstrom to a one-year,
two-way contract on Friday.
Holmstrom, 27, will make $600,000 if he makes the NHL roster or
$200,000 if he plays in the AHL. He has played seven NHL games in
his career, including five in the 2011-12 season.

The Philadelphia Flyers re-signed forward Chris VandeVelde on Friday
to a one-year contract.
In 18 games with the Flyers last season, VandeVelde had one assist.
With the Flyers' Adirondack AHL affiliate, he had 10 goals and 24
