[July 17, 2014]  LINCOLN — Katherine L. Abbott, 93, of Lincoln, passed away July 7, 2014.  Memorial services are pending at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Visitation: 10 a.m. Monday, July 21 at the First Presbyterian Church in Lincoln

Service: 11 a.m. Monday at the Church

Obituary

Katherine Louise “Kate” Abbott, 93, of Lincoln passed away on Monday, July 14,
2014 at St. Clara’s Manor, Lincoln.

A visitation will be held on Monday, July 21, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, Lincoln. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Adam Quine will officiate.

Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home has been entrusted with her care.

Katherine was born February 2, 1921 in Decatur, IL., the daughter of Benjamin
F. Harrison and Wilda (Rowe) Harrison. She married James W. “Jim” Abbott on June 6, 1943. He preceded her in death on February 19, 1975.

Mrs. Abbott was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lincoln, where she
served as a volunteer tutor. She also was a member of the Lincoln Women’s Club, and served as a volunteer at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital and for the Elks

Crippled Children. She taught for many years at Chester-East Lincoln Elementary
School, where she created The Learning Center.

Surviving are her daughters Kathy (Bill) Daunais of Madison, CT. and Beth (Dave) Eckert of Waukegan, IL; her daughter in law Bobbi Abbott of Lincoln, IL.; her sister Dorothy Harrison (Emory) Gaffney of Lincoln, IL; her sister in law Dorothy Harrison of Lincoln, IL.; eight grandchildren: Tracy (Jason) Brandt, Steven (Andi) Daunais, Chris (Erin) Eckert, Derek (Lauren) Daunais, Amy (Jim) Rossini, Andrew (Marti) Abbott, and James Abbott; she is also survived by 13 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son J. Michael Abbott, and her brothers Ben Harrison, Jack Harrison, and Phil Harrison.

Memorial donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Lincoln,

Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital of Lincoln, or the Lincoln Elks Crippled Children’s Fund and will be accepted at the funeral home.
