Obituary
Michael James McCray, 66, of Lincoln, Illinois,
passed away July 1, 2014 at San Gorgonio Memorial
Hospital in Banning, California.
Visitation will be Saturday, July 19, 2014 from 10
a.m. until 12:00Noon at Holland Barry & Bennett
Funeral Home in Lincoln. Funeral services will be at
12:00 Noon also at the funeral home with pastor
Robert Clark officiating. Burial will follow in
Carlyle Cemetery, Lake Fork, IL. with full military
detail provided by the American Legion Post 263.
Michael was born August 27, 1947, the son of Robert
Rodger and Glennys E. (Jackson) McCray. He attended
high school in Pekin, Illinois. He joined the U.S.
Army in 1966 and served two combat tours of duty
with the 9th Infantry Division in the Vietnam War.
He later went to Korea, Germany, and Hawaii where he
was honorably discharged in 1972. Earlier in life,
he worked at Caterpillar in East Peoria, PPG
Bottling Plant and at Myers Industries in Lincoln.
He was a carpenter by trade working construction in
Texas and California. He retired as a small business
owner (McCray’s Appliance Repair and McCray’s
Tavern). He loved Nascar, playing darts, bowling,
and golf.

He is survived by four sons: Mike McCray (Shelly) in
Fresno, CA., Robert McCray in Beaumont, CA., William
McCray (Jessica) in Lincoln, IL., and Matthew McCray
(Misty) in Kingston, TN; 12 grandchildren; and his
brother Bruce McCray (Linda) of Lincoln, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother
Larry McCray, and his wife Marilyn.
Memorials may be made to the McCray family and will
be accepted at the funeral home.
