Kenneth Ray “Kenney” Carter, 62, of Chestnut, IL
passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2004 at Barnes
Hospital, St. Louis, MO. after a courageous battle
with his health.
Visitation will be Friday, July 18, 2014 from 4-6 PM
at Zion Lutheran Church in Chestnut. Memorial
services will follow at 6PM also at the church.
Burial will take place at a later date.
Kenney was born June 28, 1952 in Springfield, IL.,
the son of Gerald Ray Carter and Doris Jean (Behrends)
Carter. He married Karen (Cotton) Carter on February
18, 1978 in Lincoln.
He loved to fish, play pool, listen to blues music,
and spend time in his yard. He was an avid St. Louis
Cardinal’s fan.
Surviving are his wife Karen Carter of Chestnut, his
mother Doris Carter of Lincoln, IL., his children:
Jamie (Andrew) Vaughan of Mt. Pulaski, IL., Rachel
(Scott) Getzelman of Clinton, IL., and Shawn Halsey
of Las Vegas, NV., his brother James (Jim
Schmeltzer) Carter of Chicago, IL, and his
grandchildren, Corey, Chloe, Caitlynn, Jace, Sydney,
Alissa, and and Ian.
He was preceded in death by his father and his
sister, Mary Laesch.
Memorial donations may be made to Zion Lutheran
Church, Chestnut, or to Barnes Jewish Childrens’
Hospital, St. Louis, MO and will be accepted at the
funeral home.
