Duda broke a scoreless tie with his sixth-inning blast, marking
his third homer of the series. Jenrry Mejia worked out of a
ninth-inning jam to notch his 15th save for the Mets, who concluded
a 10-game road trip with a 5-5 mark while the Brewers lost for just
the fourth time in 11 games.
The right-handed deGrom (5-5) allowed four hits and two walks and
struck out four in his latest strong performance. The rookie has
allowed just two runs in 27 1/3 innings during his four-start
winning streak.
Daniel Murphy led off the New York sixth with a double off the
right-center field fence against Jimmy Nelson (1-2), who gave up two
runs and five hits in seven innings. One out later, Duda crushed an
0-2 pitch well over the right-field fence to give the Mets the
two-run lead.
Khris Davis and Jean Segura each had seventh-inning singles off
deGrom but Vic Black entered to retire the final two batters of the
inning. Jeurys Familia sailed through the eighth for his ninth
consecutive scoreless outing and Mejia gave up singles to Davis and
Segura in the ninth before getting Lyle Overbay to ground to second
for the final out.
