Obituary
Ovid W. Wright, 82, of Lincoln
passed away at 6:40 P.M. on Saturday, July 26, 2014
at the Christian Village Nursing Home in Lincoln.
Ovid was born on June 14, 1932,
in Cerro Gordo, IL, son of Carlton Jonathan “Doc”
and Mary Lamb Wright. He was united in marriage to
Wilma Davidson on June 3, 1951 in Cerro Gordo, IL.
She preceded him in death on October 6, 2005.
Ovid is survived by his daughter:
Lisa (Jay) Akers of Elkhart; sons: Lonn Wright of
Richland Hills, TX; Todd (Leslie) Wright of Denton,
TX; sister: Dorothy Brush of Marion, IL;
grandchildren: Courtney Akers, Ashlyn Wright, Mason
Wright, Landon Wright, and Morgan Mayer. He was
preceded in death by his parents, brother: Robert
Wright, and sister: Elmira Wright.
Ovid proudly served in the U.S.
Navy on the USS Prairie as a PN3 from 1952-1955
during the Korean War. He worked for Lehn and Fink
and then he worked for the State of Illinois at the
Logan Mason Rehab. Ovid was also a member of the
Christian Church and the American Legion Post # 263. |
Services for Ovid will be held at
3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at the Lincoln
Christian Congregate Building with Mike Drake
officiating. A visitation will be held on Wednesday
from 1-3 p.m. at the Congregate Building. Burial
will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 31 at Cerro
Gordo Cemetery with full military rites being
accorded by the American Legion Post #263.
Memorials may be made to the Christian Village
Congregate Building Activities Fund. Services were
entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral
Home, Lincoln.
